OUR STORY

 

Hi we're Spurtle. We provide an artisan organic oatmeal experience. We didn't start off that way though. Our founder started off in a small apartment kitchen in downtown LA. The goal was to create good oatmeal that tasted great and used only natural ingredients. Initially, the food was only shared amongst close friends and family on a very informal basis.

 

He later moved to his current location in Chino Hills. Based out of his home kitchen he began experimenting with unique flavor combinations to enhance the essence of the oatmeal. He played around with milk alternatives, fresh organic fruit, various nuts, and eventually created combinations that worked out well enough to satisfy oatmeal fans and win over critics. It was at that point that he realized he might be onto something.

 

Up until that point he had only used rolled oats, and not even organic. Curiosity took over and he experimented with organic steel cut oats and loved the robust nutty flavor and rich texture they offered. From then on he decided to focus on creating a completely organic oatmeal experience.

 

He later learned about an international competition held every year for porridge making located in Scotland. The winner went home with an award called the Golden Spurtle. Given his intention to stay true to the roots of organic oatmeal, the company adopted the name “Spurtle” in honor of the kitchen tool that has shared a very long history with this wonderful grain.
